Message I summarize here, and elaborate further down:
- No, there is no confusion about what the facts are, we are all just using that word to represent all the information that is worth considering when deciding whether to change the belt. What you are calling "facts" is an incomplete set of information.
- You display some level of being close-minded as well, and seem to look down upon folks who invoke the term “common sense.” When you hear that, you seem to turn your nose up.
- You seem arrogant, and bring such responses upon yourself.
- I guess I may say that you have not stated all the facts, and have done it arrogantly, while suggesting that everybody else is close-minded.

There is no confusion about what are facts. I bring this back to the argument, then, that you have not stated “all the facts.” I am using the term fact loosely, to represent all the information that is worth making a part of the decision of whether to replace the belt in any given situation. You suggested that Guapo was close-minded in spite of the facts.

You have argued that one need look no further than the manual. You imply that there is nothing outside the manual of value, and therefore it represents “all the facts”, but that is wrong. That is why I say that you are confusing the manual to be “the facts.” When making a decision "the facts" should represent all you need to make the right decision.

I have taken up for the folks who have called their reasoning “common sense”, which is really in this case reasoning that there are instances where you have to consider other factors in addition to the manual. Other “facts.” I know that is probably not a proper use of the word, but I’m just trying to use the words that you used.

You have more-or-less labeled all those other folks as closed-minded, and I am saying that you are no better, because you take your personal convictions/assumptions and apply them to the situation. In particular, you make assumptions about the decision-making process at Nissan and how that affects what gets in the manual. I would guess that you have little to no experience with actual product release, warranty, reliability, etc, *in a real-world product release scenario*. If you don’t understand that sentence I can only apologize. Hehe, sorry, reference previous snobby 4-sigma statement that you made.

And finally, that’s why you get these responses, because you come off as suggesting that you think you have special information that nobody else has, and therefore the closed-minded, unwashed masses are not worth arguing with. You seem pretty arrogant, that’s why you get this. You wonder why some of us seem mad at you, and I’m just sayin’…..
